Sergio Garcia delivered a masterclass at Emirates Golf Club on Sunday during a round of 69 that saw him win the Omega Dubai Desert Classic by three strokes over Henrik Stenson.

‘I’m very happy to play the way I played,’ said Garcia. ‘The way I handled some of the key moments and to beat Henrik, we all now how great a player he is.’

The Spaniard’s 12th European Tour win came in wire-to-wire fashion after he began the tournament with a seven under par 65 on Thursday. He wrapped up the week at Emirates Golf Club on 19 under par, courtesy of his new TaylorMade gear.

George Coetzee was within four shots coming down the stretch, but failed to apply pressure in a final round of 71 that put him at 11 under par for the week. The three-time European Tour winner settled for a share of seventh place alongside Brandon Stone, who shot 68 on Sunday to rise six places up the leaderboard.
