Team USA captain Jim Furyk has praised the form of Tiger Woods without guaranteeing him a place on the team to face Europe in September.

Regardless of Furyk’s decision on his four picks, due during the FedExCup playoffs, the 14-time Major champion will be at Le Golf National in Paris.
Woods is now looking to ramp up his vice-captain duties to add ‘playing’ before his title. The 42-year-old continues to deliver results and finished just outside the top eight automatic qualifiers after his runner-up result at the PGA Championship.
The performance, particularly his 64 in the final round, all but confirmed Woods’ return at the top level with his world ranking now in the mid-20s.
‘What’s important is how well Tiger has played,’ Furyk said. ‘It’s great to see him playing well. His word is trending. His game is trending.’
Furyk’s answer to whether Woods can help the team with club in hand gave little away.
‘It’s a good question. He’s playing very well and there’s probably a lot of people out there who think he can,’ he said.
‘I realise he’s playing really well and I’m really excited about Tiger Woods.’
The Ryder Cup tees off on 28 September.
