Canon South Africa’s Pro Golf Series played out for the 16th consecutive year at the Centurion Golf Estate in May 2016. Over 70 golfers competed in the event, including three professional players; Thomas Bjorn, Richard Sterne, and Manuel de los Santos, a celebrated leg amputee from the Dominican Republic, who recently came fourth at the 2016 Nedbank Disabled Golf Open.
Thomas Bjorn is a professional golfer from Denmark who plays on the European Tour. He is the most successful Danish golfer to have played the game having won fifteen tournaments worldwide on the European Tour. Richard Sterne is a South African professional golfer who plays on both the European and Sunshine Tours.
Hosted annually, the tournament provides a rare platform for Canon SA to interact with its valued customers and partners from around the world. The Centurion Golf Course, designed by Peter Matkovich, offered participants a challenging game with a mix of parkland and desert areas, as well as numerous holes surrounded by water.
As always, the golfers enjoyed warm, old-fashioned hospitality and the best of South African cuisine during the prize-giving dinner hosted at the country club after the day’s events.
‘We welcomed a full field of spirited golfers who revelled in being able to pit their skills against some top notch players. For Canon SA, the Pro Golf Series in an important event on our calendar because it gives us a chance to catch up with customers and partners that we don’t get to see often.
‘This year, we once again enjoyed the presence of SADGA at the event, and marvelled at the skill and sportsmanship of one of South Africa’s top professional disabled golfers. We thank everyone who helped make this year’s event successful,’ says Dana Eitzen, Corporate and marketing Communications Executive at Canon SA.
