Dylan Frittelli is hoping to keep the momentum flowing as he heads into the Volvo China Open on the back of a strong performance at the Shenzhen International, writes WADE PRETORIUS.
After missing his first two cuts of 2017, Frittelli has made the cut in eight consecutive events and finished inside the top 20 on 6 occasions, a clear indicator that his game is trending in the right direction.
‘I am going to head into this week with a lot of positives from last week,’ Frittelli told Compleat Golfer.
‘I hit the ball well and played really nicely. Maybe, I would say that my putting wasn’t as good in the final round as it was in previous three rounds, but I have done a little work on that here and I do feel better already.
‘It will be important to keep striking the ball well and keep going with the positives this week.’
Something that even the ardent fans will take into account, is the logistics of travelling in between events, even when these are in the same country.
‘It was quite tough to get here actually. It took about 12 hours to get here, but I am happy to be settled in now. I worked hard yesterday, played 18 holes after three hours sleep. Today, I got nine holes in so I have got my prep in on the course.’
Frittelli, who saw his ranking jump from 134 to 123 in the rankings after his top five finish last week, is ready to make his move into the winner’s circle.
‘I’m hoping for another good week. I will go into it relaxed and looking forward to more good scoring, with the main goal being getting into contention on the weekend and then seeing if I can get the job done this time.’
Li Haotong will look to defend the title he won on home soil when the Volvo China Open begins on Thursday.
