Marcus Fraser shot a Sunday 68 at Royal Selangor Golf Club for a two-shot victory at the Maybank Championship Malaysia, netting a cool €439,460 in the process.
Louis Oosthuizen was firing on Sunday and shot 66 to rise into a share of 12th, leading a South African contingent that included Keith Horne in 24th place and Jbe’ Kruger in 36th place.
The day belonged to Fraser, who kept a clean card to deny second-placed Miguel Tabena and Soomin Lee any chance of catching up.
‘I got to the Middle East and I think it was the three worst weeks of golf I’ve played in my career,’ said Fraser. ‘I had some good practice when I went home, went back to absolute basics and tried to sort things out from the start and everything just fell into place as the week went on. A lot of putts found their way into the hole over the weekend and it was definitely my week.’
