Trevor Fisher Jnr carded a bogey-free 70 at the Delhi Golf Club on Thursday to get his Indian Open campaign off to a solid start.
The 2015 Africa Open winner started on the first and made his first gain of the day at the third. He had a stoic run of pars from the fourth to the 17th, and then birdied the last to join a share of 24th place after the first round.
Early leader Daniel Im shot a seven-under-par 65 to move one score clear of a three-way tie for second shared by Prom Meesawat, Jorge Campillo, and Nacho Elvira.
‘I like this area where you need to keep it straight and hit good iron shots to have good birdie putts,’ said Im. ‘I came in with a bit of respect. I showed some respect and got some respect back.’
Despite being five shots off the pace Fisher looked solid and his clean card will go a long way to helping him climb the leaderboard over the next three days.
Jbe’ Kruger, who won in India at the 2012 Avantha Masters, fired a one-under-par 71 on Thursday to share 40th place, followed by Ulrich van den Berg on level-par and Keith Horne on one-over.
