• Fisher Jnr leads as weather halts play

    Trevor Fisher Jnr
Steely determination this week from Fisher Jnr

Trevor Fisher Jnr carded a 68 to back up his opening 66 for a 10-under at the Eye of Africa Signature Golf Estate before bad weather halted play on Friday at the PGA championship.

The second round of the 96th edition of the Eye of Africa PGA championship was suspended due to dangerous weather, but then eventually called off for the day, with the second round set to resume at 6.50am on Saturday.

Fisher Jnr is currently sitting at the summit of the leaderboard after yet another solid showing, and currently leads by one for the week. Hot on his heels is the resurgent Jacques Blaauw whose near-perfect round of 67 left him trailing by a single shot as he finished his round 5-under.

Teaghan Gauche is the only one of the three players occupying third spot who finished his round, after he signed for a blemish-free 6-under par that took his total to 7-under par for the week. He shares this spot with Bennie van der Merwe and Daniel Greene, who are among those yet to finish the round.

Louis de Jager and the defending Matias Calderon are on 6-under for the tournament and trail by three.

The second round will see those who didn’t finish commence from where they left off, while the third round will not start until 10.30am.
