The Internationals side for the 2019 Presidents Cup has a long way to go until it takes shape with qualifying now underway ahead of the showdown at Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
The Dell Technologies Championship, won by Bryson DeChambeau, has sparked the start of the qualifying race for the 2019 Presidents Cup for the Internationals team.
Australia’s Cameron Smith, third in both of the first two playoff events, tops the standings with Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama second followed by CT Pan (Taiwan).
There is just one South African, Louis Oosthuizen, in the current top eight but there remains a long road ahead to determine Ernie Els’ side, who will look to reclaim the trophy back at the site of their lone triumph in 1998.
The top eight (8) international players (excluding those eligible for the European Ryder Cup team) from the Presidents Cup International Team Points List, which shall be Official World Golf Ranking points accumulated in the time period from August 27, 2018 (Dell Technologies Championship) through August 25, 2019 (TOUR Championship), will be supplemented by four picks from captain Els.
