• Finau ends Fleetwood’s unbeaten run

    Tony Finau beats Tommy Fleetwood
The man to end Tommy's dream week

Tommy Fleetwood’s epic quest to become the first European player to win all five matches at the Ryder Cup was ended at the hands of Tony Finau.

Rookie Finau won the first two holes before the Englishman fought back with two wins of his own. That would just about be the end of the highlights reel for Fleetwood as Finau produced a flurry of birdies which combined with his opponent’s poor putting from close range.

Five straight wins from Finau saw him take a five-up lead heading into the back nine.

Fleetwood bounced back with a rare birdie and a win at the 10th before Finau knocked the wind out of his sails by converting his birdie try on the par-three 11th despite Fleetwood being substantially closer.

A halved 13th had Fleetwood on his last legs with five to play. It took only one more hole for Finau to run out a 6&4 winner

A bittersweet ending to a phenomenal first run at the Ryder Cup.
