World No 1 Dustin Johnson has withdrawn from this week’s Valero Texas Open, despite originally suggesting he would be in action at TPC San Antonio.
Johnson failed to progress past the group stages of last week’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and said he would tee off at the Texas Open as preparation for next week’s Masters.
Although no reason was given for Johnson’s withdrawal from the event, it appears he will fine-tune his preparation in private with the hopes of defending his Green Jacket.

The American claimed a brilliant victory at Augusta National in November last year, capping what was a magnificent 2020 for him.
Johnson will be replaced by Ryan Brehm in the Texas Open field.
