The Covid-19 pandemic has left European golfers without the option of spending time outside exercising with a large proportion of golf clubs closed.
A Bunkered report shows that at least 4,121 of Europe’s 8,940 courses are currently in lockdown – 46.1%.
Germany is on complete lockdown with all of its 1 050 courses closed.
A short statement on the German Golf Association website stated: ‘Play operations on golf courses are forbidden nationwide from Wednesday, March 18, 2020.’
France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands and Norway have also put a halt to golf with similar measures in place in Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Poland and the Czech Republic.
