Charl Schwartzel’s 10 European Tour wins represent him and he’s back looking for another title at the Tshwane Open this week, where he shot 66 on Saturday to lead by one.
Behind him was young gun Zander Lombard, who came fourth at the Australia PGA Championship in December, second in the South African Open Championship in January, and lay one shot behind after 54 holes.
Schwartzel is straight-forward in his approach to the course. Long irons are his bread and butter, and he demonstrated with an eagle at the ninth to turn three-under par.
On the back stretch he added birdies at the 12th and 17th, but gave back a shot on the last for a round of 66. That four-under on the par-70 course at Pretoria Country Club was enough to lead after three rounds.
Lombard has a big task ahead, lying one shot behind the 2011 Masters winner. A classic Sunday of golf lies ahead in Pretoria.
