Bertine Strauss is aiming to put behind recent form when she tees up at the ShopRite LPGA Classic in New Jersey on Friday.
The 24-year-old has missed six cuts in her last seven starts in America. Her best performance so far on the LPGA this season has been a tie for 24th at the ISPS Handa Womens Australia Open. Other finishes where she has made the cut include a tie for 54th at the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic, a tie for 56th at the JTBC Founders Cup and a tie for 64th at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic.
Strauss has struggled with the higher standard on the LPGA in this her rookie year and the full extent can be seen in her Ladies Sunshine Tour performances earlier this season.
At the beginning of 2015 she recorded wins at the Supersport Ladies Challenge, Sun International Ladies Challenge and the Chase to Investec Cup Final tournament. Other finishes in South Africa included a runner-up finish at the Ladies Joburg Open and a tie for seventh at the Cape Town Ladies Open.
Her win in the Investec Cup Final event should have given her motivation to kick on, considering the field included the likes of Ashleigh Simon, Stacy Lee Bregman and South African number one Lee-Anne Pace. This however has not been the case as she sits 113th in the LPGA Tour money list with a little over $25,000 in winnings.
She’ll hope that the Stockton Seaview Golf Club layout will suit her game as she attempts to turn her season around across the pond.
