England’s Alice Hewson is the 2020 Investec SA Women’s Open champion after claiming victory at the Westlake Golf Club on Saturday, writes ANDRE HUISAMEN.
A final-round 71 was enough to hand Hewson a one-shot win at five under par after South Africa’s Monique Smit made a late charge on the final day.
Three birdies and two bogeys by Hewson, however, was enough for her to hang on despite Smit and Sweden’s Emma Nilsson staying in contention.

With a large international contingent at the event, the top-20 finish was mainly dominated by overseas players with only Ashleigh Buhai, Lejan Lewthwaite and Lee-Anne Pace the other South Africans fighting for contention.
Despite a solid first round of 70, three-time champion Buhai could only manage a 73 and 72 in the final two rounds.
