Tony Finau is the early leader at the Memorial Tournament at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio after an opening round 66 on Thursday.
The American hit the ground running with back to back birdies on the opening two holes and continued with a great deal of consistency, especially around the greens, to finish his round on six under par.
With a whole host of star players in action, Finau will take a one-shot lead into Friday’s second round with Ryan Palmer just one-shot behind him.

Tiger Woods, who is making his first PGA Tour appearance since the tour’s restart a couple of weeks ago, had most the day’s attention on him and opened his account with a 71 to finish the day in T18.
South African trio Louis Oosthuizen, Ernie Els and Christiaan Bezuidenhout had a cautious start to their respective rounds on Thursday by playing even for the day, while Dylan Frittelli started with a one-over-par 73.
This year’s South African Open winner Branden Grace opened his account with a two over with Charl Schwartzel on three over par and Erik van Rooyen a further stroke back on four over.
