A late entry into the Nedbank Golf Challenge was not what Darren Fichardt was expecting and he spent Wednesday night braaiing till 24:00.
Fichardt was the last man into the field after an injury to England’s Anthony Wall and raced to Sun City to make his tee time.
The rush and lack of practice at the venue did little to deter the South African, who won the Joburg Open earlier in the season as he jolted into a share of the lead before settling for a 71 on Thursday.
Ya neh, @Darrenfichardt1 is such a great sport… he didn’t know he’d be playing in the #NGC2017 and he showed up anyway. He only got confirmation while driving to Sun City. pic.twitter.com/yk6YeeOZKz
