South African Louis Oosthuizen took home R1 379 638 as he finished in a share of 23rd place, the highest by a South African golfer at the US Open.

Oosthuizen failed to replicate his third round 68, as he shot a one-over-par 73 on Sunday to finish three-under for the tournament, 13 shots behind winner Brooks Koepka.
The win lifted Koepka to 10th in the world as he claimed his first Major and the R28 245 024 cheque that went along with it.
Runners-up Hideki Matsuyama and Brian Harman each earned R13 730 220 for their efforts at Erin Hills.
While Oosthuizen walked away with his share of 23rd place, the next best, Brandon Stone, earned R766 760 this past week. After making his first Major cut, Stone fired weekend rounds of 72 and 73 as he finished in T35.
Next on the list, from a South African perspective, was Branden Grace. He earned R377 842 after finishing T50 on +4.
Ernie Els, playing on the last year of his exemption as a winner, closed with a final round 74 to finish +7 and take home R335 161. Thomas Aiken was the final player from South Africa to make the cut, and finished T58 after a disappointing final round 79 that saw him plummet down the leaderboard. Aiken walked away with R327 249 to ease his final day pain.
