Monday’s opening practice round for the 89th Masters was suspended and spectators evacuated from the course due to inclement weather.

The suspension came at 11:25am local time with a dozen players on the course and about as many others on the driving range or chipping and putting practice areas.

Meanwhile, Fiji’s Vijay Singh, the 2000 Masters champion, pulled out of the field on Monday with an undisclosed injury.

“Due to injury, Vijay Singh has informed the competition committees he will not play in the 2025 Masters Tournament,” Augusta National said in a brief statement.

The 62-year-old was scheduled to make his 32nd Masters start. The Hall of Famer, who beat Ernie Els by three strokes to win the Green Jacket in 2000, made the cut last year, finishing in a tie for 58th.

Singh, who won 22 of his 34 PGA Tour titles after he turned 40, is a regular on the Champions Tour and finished tied for 18th on Sunday in the over-50 circuit’s James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational in Florida.
