Brandt Snedeker is in New Jersey for the 98th PGA Championship, being held at Baltusrol Golf Club, this week as he looks to finally capture a major crown that has eluded him in the past.
The 35-year-old had a good week at the RBC Canadian Open, sharing fifth place despite leading after 54 holes. The Nashville-born golfer has a win, as well as a second and third-place finish, to his name this season and has accumulated over $3,2 million in prize money.
Snedeker finished tied-10th at the Masters and showed determination at The Open where he finished in a share of 22nd place. He finished tied-12th last year at the PGA Championship and has a further three top-25 performances to his name at the year’s final major. The Vanderbilt University alumni has yet to crack a top-10 finish at the PGA Championship, while he can boast eight top-10’s across the other three majors.
He’s excellent with his short irons, ranking first on tour for approaches between 125 and 150 yards. He’s also one of the best scramblers on tour and ranks inside the top-20 in scoring average. At 118th in driving accuracy, his long game is cause for concern as well as the fact that he gives a few yards off the tee to long hitters.
His fast-paced play will be exciting to watch at Baltusrol, but Snedeker will have to play wisely given the long nature of the course that stands in front of him.
