As many as six South Africans are set to challenge for the WGC-Mexico at the Club de Golf Chapultepec this week with Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace paired together for the first two rounds.
Grace and Oosthuizen are South Africa’s top two-ranked players and will be joined by Ross Fisher in the year’s first WGC event where Dustin Johnson defends his title.
Oosthuizen moved himself nicely into the frame last week before a final round 75 saw him drop into a share of 24th place. His countryman Grace’s last start was at the Genesis Open where he finished T37, his worst result since winning the 2017 Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Grace has moved one place ahead of Oosthuizen in the Official World Rankings after finishing second to Chris Paisley at the SA Open and then going T15, T37, T20 in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and at Pebble Beach.
The duo are off at 20:27.
Dylan Frittelli, noticed by the PGA Tour in their power rankings, is making his second start on the PGA Tour in 2018 after finishing 11th at the Honda Classic. The two-time European Tour winner is on debut this week, and will join NBO Oman winner Joost Luiten and Jason Dufner at 20:39.
Charl Schwartzel, who has six top-10 finishes across these elite events, will be looking for his first WGC title and has SA Open winner Paisley and Patrick Cantlay at 20:03.
Brandon Stone joins Wade Ormsby and Kevin Chappell off the first tee at 19:39 while Dean Burmester begins his WGC-Mexico adventure at 20:51 with Brett Rumford and Patton Kizzire off the 10th tee.
