Louis Oosthuizen says LIV Golf is “working hard” to bring a tournament to South Africa.
The 42-year-old, who captains the all-South African Stingers team, was speaking ahead of this week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek.
“We are working weekly on that,” Oosthuizen told News24 when asked about the possibility of a LIV Golf South Africa event. “We’re trying to get sponsors involved, getting everyone behind us.
“I think, realistically, 2026 or 2027, [we can] try and get a tournament here.
“We are working behind the scenes to get this done. For us four and the team, that’s the highest thing up there. We want to bring a tournament to South Africa.
“We want the people to feel what we feel at tournaments with the vibe and the music when you’re playing and all that type of thing. It is very high on this team, the Stingers GC’s priority list to get an event to SA.
“To get stuff done behind the scenes, there’s a lot of work to do, but we are working hard.”
However, News24 understands the Sunshine Tour has no plans to host a LIV tournament “for a while”.
