The Garmin s60 GPS watch is one of the best pieces of golf technology on the market and could help you improve your game.
In the third quarter of 2017, Compleat Golfer ran a competition to giveaway one of these watches. The response was overwhelming, so I thought I’d test one out. I quickly learned that the watch is worth the hype as it comes packed with a number of great add-ons.
Firstly, the watch looks great and you can easily wear it on the course and then in the clubhouse which is a big plus. The GPS function worked really well and the touchscreen was excellent in responding to moving the pin position and landing areas. That really helps keep you in tune with the pace of play when using a GPS unlike some of the alternative options.
The watch shows precise yardages to greens, hazards and doglegs on full-colour
course maps with 40 000 courses preloaded but what I really liked off the course was the AutoShot function which tracks your distance and location so that you can keep a detailed record of your round.
Out at @RondeboschGC to test the @GarminSA S60 – this thing can do so much, keen to see what happens on the course. pic.twitter.com/xTDQbI6Vzl

Another nifty feature was that it also receives notifications for calls, texts, emails and more, while when paired with the Garmin app it can provide weather forecast data.
Still a long way to go… pic.twitter.com/tPiu946LEr

At a Recommended Retail Price of R 6 999 it’s certainly a luxury but worth it if you can afford it.
