World number two Rory McIlroy is set to debut his TaylorMade Spider Tour Red putter at the US Open at Erin Hills this week, according to reports.

McIlroy recently signed a bumper equipment deal as he put 13 TaylorMade clubs in his new staff bag, but now he is expected to play all 14 on Thursday.
The Northern Irishman has one US Open title which came back in 2011 to his name, but has not won a Major since the PGA Championship in 2014, with a rib injury halting his progress this year.
Reports suggest that McIlroy will put the putter in the bag after it tested better than a custom TaylorMade TP Collection Mullen and an Odyssey O-Works prototype.
McIlroy’s Spider Tour Red putter includes a ‘Rors’ stamp, the same as his new TPx5 ball, and a single black line to help with alignment.
‘That’s one of the reasons I went to the mallet — I sort of figured it helped me align better and helped with my aim,’ McIlroy told PGATOUR.COM. ‘It’s awesome with the Spider because you set this thing up and you know exactly where you’re aiming, and it sits so square with that flow neck.’
The 28-year-old has changed his putter several times recently, moving from his Nike Method Origin B2-01 blade to a Scotty Cameron Concept M1, then he put a Odyssey O-Works prototype mallet in play for the SA Open, before his latest change.
The Spider Tour is also used by world number one Dustin Johnson and number three Jason Day.
