Frank Montgomery and Dudley Thomson were concerned when the weather forecast for Thursday the 26th of January predicted storms, but nothing would stop them from trying the TaylorMade M1.
The two gents were randomly drawn from hundreds of entries and each won a brand new M1 driver, making them among the first people in South Africa to own the club.
They arrived at Country Club Johannesburg and were greeted with a special gift bag presented by Johan Germishuys, a master fitter from TaylorMade South Africa. The unexpected package contained balls, gloves, a cap and heaps of extra goodies.
After that it was down to business as Johan got into the fitting, gearing up the drivers to suit each player based on the shape of their shots.
The new M1 driver has an easy-to-use adjustment piece to make the club favour a fade or a draw, along with being able to change the launch angle off the face.
It didn’t take long for the two players to be custom-fitted for the round they were about to play. Compleat Golfer’s Publisher Wayne Willmore presented the drivers in the handover on the first tee, shortly before the crew began 18 holes at Country Club Johannesburg.
