Pinnacle Point Estate is chasing its second consecutive win, as voting opens for the South Africa’s Best Golf Course in the 2017 World Golf Awards.
Declared ‘Pebble Beach on steroids!’ by 2011 Open Champion Darren Clarke and ‘without doubt the most spectacular golf course I have ever had the opportunity to design’ by the renowned Peter Matkovich, Pinnacle Point is in a league of its own.
It is little wonder then that the clifftop masterpiece was awarded the highest honour in 2016, to be voted South Africa’s Best Golf Course in the World Golf Awards. And it’s an honour that Pinnacle Point intends to keep – with the help of the international golfing community – in 2017.
‘At Pinnacle Point we pride ourselves in being one of the most celebrated golfing destinations in South Africa. We hope that members of the golfing industry will once again demonstrate their support this year – not only by playing our spectacular links golf course, but by voting for Pinnacle Point in the 2017 World Golf Awards,’ says Pinnacle Point Golf Director, Nic Grundtvig.
Now in its fourth year, the World Golf Awards serve to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism. Golfing enthusiasts are also encouraged to vote for South Africa in the Africa’s Best Golfing Destination category, a well-deserved honour that boosts the country’s golf tourism industry. In 2016, South Africa won this prestigious title ahead of Egypt, Kenya and Morocco, which are again nominated for the 2017 award.
‘Golfers at Pinnacle Point have access to a number of world-class facilities, including a driving range, putting green and excellent pro shop, not to mention a clubhouse perched on a peninsula with 270-degree sea views,’ adds Carl van der Linde, General Manager at Pinnacle Point Estate.
The course is also home to the technologically-advanced Pinnacle Golf Academy (with its own indoor swing studio) and club-fitting and repairs centre.
In a bid to further enhance the golfing experience for residents and visitors, Pinnacle Point completed a number of exciting new developments last year, including a revamp and extension to the clubhouse, a restaurant upgrade, and the construction of a kiddies’ entertainment centre, golf cart barn, function venue, and a professionally-managed wellness centre.
The Southern Cape golf estate has been scoring prestigious international accolades for the past 10 years. Last year, Pinnacle Point topped the list of ‘Top 10 courses you must not miss during a trip to South Africa’, compiled by the editors of Swedish Golf Digest, and it was the only South African golf course featured in ‘Courses You Must Play’ outside of the US in the November 2016 edition of US-based LINKS magazine.
Since its opening, Pinnacle Point has been rated among the top 20 golf courses in South Africa and in January 2007, it was named one of the top 10 new golf courses in the world by Golf Travel & Leisure. Pinnacle Point received the Compleat Golfer 5-Star Experience Award in 2008, 2012 and 2013, and in 2015 achieved the International Property Award for Best Golf Development in Africa, a global symbol of property excellence.
Overlooking the Indian Ocean, Pinnacle Point is without doubt one of the most remarkable golf courses in the world, and will be a strong contender for the title of ‘South Africa’s Best Golf Course 2017’.
