Adilson da Silva shot a bogey-free 67 at Lake Karrinyup Country Club on Friday morning to share seventh place early in round two of the Perth International.
‘The course is not that long and I managed to hit the right shots from the tee. Then, my putting was also good, so it was a solid round,’ he said.
The Brazilian was originally flown across from South America to Zimbabwe to learn the game and grew into one of the finest players on the continent.
He’s a Sunshine Tour veteran with 12 victories and a regular member of the Asian Tour, which is how he earned a place at the Perth International this week.
He’s made the most of the opportunity so far and on Friday shot 32 on the back nine at Lake Karrinyup to reach the weekend on a five-under-par total.
‘I hit the ball so nicely and it’s a great course. I have been playing very well recently and it’s nice to make the cut and have a chance,’ he said.
Firmly in charge of the lead was Peter Uihlein, whose rounds of 65 and 68 put him two shots clear of Australian Rhein Gibson.
