Jeunghun Wang played a sublime 64 that included six birdies, one eagle, and no bogeys at Gary Player Country Club to finish on 11 under par for the tournament.
The Korean is ranked 39th in the Race to Dubai, despite winning twice this season, and wanted a final push at Sun City before the DP World Tour Championship.
‘I shot eight under on this course in this wind, I still cannot believe it,’ said Wang. ‘I don’t want to think about any win. I just want to focus on the last 18 holes. I’ll just try to do the same as today.’
The second round was delayed until Saturday morning due to thunderstorms, but Wang sparked in the cool conditions and birdied four of the first five holes out.
Straight after the turn he struck again, making eagle at the 10th and then birdie at the 11th to take the sole lead.
Louis Oosthuizen was chasing hard, but Wang sank a 20-foot putt for birdie at the 18th to remain in front in the $7-million tournament, which ends on Sunday.
Very impressive. ?
