HIS TOP SA COURSES
In the latest of Oosthuizen’s travels around South Africa, he reveals his No 4 course in the country and why.
This is probably more of a lifestyle thing than anything, but every time I go to Leopard Creek I just feel like we ‘belong’ there. Typically, I’ll go to Kruger Park with my wife and little ones, waking up early in the mornings for a drive or two, playing golf in the afternoons and sitting around a fire at night. It doesn’t get much better than that – especially when teeing up in the Alfred Dunhill Championship at the end of what is always a long year. It’s really a special place. But, although I really love the layout of the golf course, I have either played out of my skin or missed the cut! I missed five consecutive cuts after 2006, and then in last November’s event I shot 70 and 76, and had to watch as my good friend Charl Schwartzel won by shooting 15 under! It’s a golf course where you can shoot a low number, but it’s going to bite you. It’s got tough stretches in the middle and you need to be on your game. The bushveld setting just gives me that South African and African feeling. I’m at home when I’m at Leopard Creek.

INTRODUCING … LOUIS57 WINES
Louis57 Wines are made by the renowned Borman family, Jacques and his son Reenen. Jacques was the winemaker at La Motte in Franschhoek for 25 years, after which he developed the Rupert and Rothschild label. He is now working privately near Stellenbosch. Louis57 Wines consist of the Private Collection and the Private Cellar. The Private Collection includes the flagship wine, The Nella Conclusion, a Bordeaux blend. The Open Championship Syrah (commemorating Oosthuizen’s 2010 victory at St Andrews) was named one of the top 12 Shiraz wines in South Africa in 2014. Other standouts are the Jasoma Chardonnay and the Double Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon. The Private Cellar range is easy-drinking wines, distinguished by black labels and includes Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Pinotage, Pinotage Reserve and Shiraz. The Shiraz 2014 and Syrah achieved double gold status at the 2015 Vitis Vinifera awards, and the Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Merlot 2014 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 were awarded gold. The Louis57 wines also excelled at the Michael Angelo awards, with the Syrah (double gold) and Merlot 2014 and Shiraz 2014 (silver).
