Anthony Michael carded a rollercoaster 69 at Pretoria Country Club on Friday to set the clubhouse lead early into the second round of the Tshwane Open.
The 2010 Sunshine Tour Rookie of the Year made four birdies and three bogeys during the round to join afternoon starter Justin Harding on seven-under par.
America’s Daniel Im shot his second 68 of the week at the parklands track to make the weekend on four-under par, in position ahead of a cut to the leading 65 players and those tied on the number.
Local youngster Dylan Frittelli carded 69 on Friday to reach the halfway mark on three-under, while Richard Sterner, Dean Burmester, and Sweden’s Steven Jeppesen all made the clubhouse on two-under par for the tournament.
Michael was second at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in 2011 and is no stranger to contention on the European Tour. He’ll need to rely on those experiences as he faces a weekend in the mix.
