Dean Burmester shared fourth position after the second round of The Open on Friday.
The 35-year-old South African carded a 69 in blustery conditions at Royal Troon, with four birdies – on the 3rd, 7th, 8th and 16th holes – and two bogeys.
He is five shots behind the leader, Shane Lowry.
Thriston Lawrence and Darren Fichardt also made the cut, with Lawrence on three over after carding 74, and Fichardt’s 71 leaving him right on the cut line of six over.
Christian Bezuidenhout (seven over), Louis Oosthuizen (eight over), amateur Altin van der Merwe (11 over) and Ryan van Zelzen (13 over) all missed the cut.
Ernie Els, who won his first senior Major last week, withdrew after a first-round 82 due to a back injury.
