Sunshine Tour commissioner Thomas Abt says South Africa is not looking to bring LIV Golf to the country.
LIV’s recent inaugural event in Adelaide, Australia, was a huge hit, with sold out crowds of 35,000 per day for all three days.
South Africa’s top four golfers – Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Branden Grace and Dean Burmester – play on the breakaway circuit.

However, Abt told News24 that the Sunshine Tour was more interested in strengthening its partnerships with the DP World (European) Tour and PGA Tour than bringing LIV Golf to South Africa.
“We’re very happy with what we’re able to do, which is giving our golfers six co-sanctioned DP World Tour events,” he said.
“We’re playing for a huge amount of money. We’ve added another 25-odd events to our schedule.
“So, where we are currently right now, with the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, we’re extremely chuffed and pleased with what we have.
“We’re not looking elsewhere to bring anything more to our country.”
