Jimmy Walker shot 67 at Baltusrol Golf Club on Sunday to win the PGA Championship, his first major title after 15 years as a professional.
The American closed out the season’s final major on 14-under-par for the tournament and won by one stroke over Jason Day.
‘I felt confident in what I was doing,’ said Walker. ‘Felt confident in my golf swing, my putting, my chipping. Kind of tried to wrap myself around that; that everything was feeling good, and to go with that and trust what I was doing.’
The 37-year-old played the front nine in level-par and was tied for the lead going into the stretch. He birdied the 10th and 11th to move two shots clear, but drama came at the 18th, where his rival made eagle.
In spite of the stress Walker carded par at the last to win the Wanamaker Trophy.
