You won’t see his name on the top of the PGA Championship leaderboard, but Charl Schwartzel climbed 44 spots on Saturday with a round of 66 at Baltusrol Golf Club.
The 2011 Masters champ moved into an early share of 27th at the season’s final major, but the leaders were yet to tee off.
It was a splendid round from Schwartzel, who made four birdies in a row from the 10th to the 14th. A back nine consisting of 31 strokes saw him to the clubhouse on two-under-par.
Ernie Els climbed 10 spots on Saturday to share 60th place ahead of the final round. The Big Easy carded 73 on Thursday, but fought his way back into the tournament one day later with a round of 69. He made the cut and then continued to rise on Saturday, reaching 54 holes in a share of 60th place on one-over-par for the tournament.
