David Frost soared up the leaderboard during the third round of the Senior Open Championship after playing the final seven holes at Carnoustie in four-under-par. He signed for 70 and a share of 18th place, courtesy of an eagle and two birdies on his closing holes.
Pre-tournament favourite Miguel Angel Jimenez was five-under-par through 12 holes in the third round and had a one-shot lead over Paul Broadhurst and Wes Short.
Frost is no stranger to contending on the biggest stages in golf and in 1987 he tied for sixth place at The Open Championship. His career included 29 wins, 10 of them on the PGA Tour.
This week in Scotland he’s played the back nine in par or better and made a total of three bogeys in those 27 holes. Expect to see him thundering down the stretch on Sunday.
James Kingston played his way around in three-over-par 75 to join a four-way tie for 56th place that included Mark Calcavecchia.
