After this past Sunday’s hard-fought victory at the Cape Town Open, an emotional JC Ritchie opened up on what the win means to him following a difficult 12-month period in his life.
Ritchie edged Jacques Blaauw in a thrilling playoff at the Royal Cape Golf Club to secure his second triumph on the Challenge Tour.

Crawling his way into contention with a stunning final round, Ritchie cut a relieved figure after his victory.
‘Something’s back, definitely. My game disappeared – that’s where the tears come from,’ he said.
‘It’s been a lot of hell, crying, a lot of bad times in the last year that I’ve gone through to be able to get myself into this position and strong enough to win again.
‘I have proven to myself that I am good enough to play on the bigger tours. I still have a lot to learn outside of our boarders, in Europe and on the Challenge Tour. Hopefully I don’t have to spend much more time on the Challenge Tour this year, hopefully I can get a few more wins and jump on to the European Tour.’
