The famous Masters Par 3 Contest at Augusta National has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The exciting event usually takes place the Wednesday before the Masters and presents a fun day for players and their families.
Augusta National Golf Club officials made the announcement on Monday and as was the case during last year’s November Masters, cited social-distance protocols as the reason for the cancellation.
There were also no spectators in attendance during Dustin Johnson’s triumph at the 2020 Masters.
The PGA Tour has welcomed limited crowds in recent weeks and restricted access will be granted to patrons to watch players compete for the Green Jacket from 8-11 April.
‘Due to social distancing protocols, the Par 3 Contest will not be conducted in 2021. It is our hope that this event will resume in 2022,’ said a spokesperson for the course.
