Tommy Fleetwood is hoping to rekindle his admiration for Scotland when he tees off at the Scottish Open on Thursday.
Fleetwood won his very first European Tour title in the country when he claimed victory at the 2013 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles and is eager to deliver a similar performance at the Renaissance Golf Club this week.

The 29-year-old is back on European soil for the first time since the US Open and has been doing a great deal of travelling between the continent and the USA, competing in various European Tour and PGA Tour events since golf’s restart.
‘Every week in golf is a blank canvas,’ said Fleetwood.
‘Everybody has the opportunity, and I always feel like my good golf is clearly good enough to be there at the end of the week. I am excited about playing here again, and like you say, I do have some great memories in Scotland.
‘Scotland, the country, the golf course, always looked fondly upon me for whatever reason that is.’
Despite struggling somewhat on Tour so far this year, the world No 17 showed glimpses of returning to form at the Portugal Masters a few weeks ago, where he came close to sealing a win only to lose to South Africa’s George Coetzee.

‘Portugal I played great and I chose to play because I knew I had gone home and I was having to work on things. I feel like my game is progressively [improving] – I’m feeling a lot more motivated is not the right word – but I’m feeling more optimistic about every sort of practice session I’m having and going out there and hitting it this week, which is great. I’m not particularly happy with my form, but I feel positive,’ he added.
After finishing as the Tour’s second-best player on the Race to Dubai last year, Fleetwood currently occupies eighth spot in the standings and will be keen to gather some vital points before the season draws to a close.
