Rory McIlroy is back to compete after a week’s break and makes his return to the PGA Tour at Muirfield Village Golf Club for the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.
The Ulsterman is coming off a win at the Irish Open on the European Tour and will hope that he can capture his first PGA Tour victory of the season. The 27-year-old has come close to victory this season and recorded top-fives at the WGC-Cadilllac Championship, WGC-Dell Matchplay and Wells Fargo Championship.
Since 2010 McIlroy has played the tournament five times, recording a best finish of sole fifth in 2011. He did compete last year, but shared 15th two years ago.
In 2012 he missed the cut, courtesy of a second-round 79. His 2013 performance ended in a tie for 57th after his opening round of 78 and third round of 75 scuppered his chances.
The area has strong links to Irish immigrants, hence the Dublin name. McIlroy will hope for the luck of the Irish as he aims to challenge the likes of Jordan Spieth and Jason Day for the title.
