Tiger Woods hit a few shots at Congressional Country Club on Monday in the buildup to the Quicken Loans National and it was not pretty.
The former world number one remained upbeat despite finding the water three times in a row, but he clearly has a long way to go before returning to contention.
‘Everything about my game is coming around. Now it’s just a matter of being consistent with it, and then be able to do that not only at home against the boys at Medalist and try to take their cash, but trying to do that out here against the best players in the world is a completely different deal,’ he said.
The 40-year-old wants to beat Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors and Sam Snead’s record of 82 PGA Tour wins.
‘(Nicklaus’) major championship record, I certainly think it’s still attainable,’ he said. ‘Sam’s record I’d like to get as well. I’m number two on both lists, so it’d be nice to end up number one on both lists. That’s a long way away because it’s gonna take time to get to that point.’
