It was another day without much movement from the South Africans at the NBO Oman Open in Muscat, writes WADE PRETORIUS.
The third round, traditionally known as ‘Moving Day’, was a slow one for the remaining South Africans at Al Mouj.
Haydn Porteous turned in the best performance, but even he was unable to crack a round in the 60s. With a double bogey on his card in the first round and a triple in his second, Porteous made the single bogey on Saturday but just three birdies in comparison to the five made in round two and three plus an eagle on day one.
At two under, Porteous is one behind the leading South African, Richard Sterne, who had a solid day finishing with two birdies in his final three holes for the second straight day. The 36-year-old will be ruing the double drop on the par-five 12th which saw him limit his gains on Moving Day.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout recovered from a slow start – he was +2 through 5 – with birdies at the 8th, 10th and 14th holes to get back to a red number for his round. At +1, he is two shots better than Zander Lombard who shot 75 on Saturday.
At the time of writing, England’s Chris Wood had moved to the top of the field at -11 through 10 holes with Adrien Otegui (Spain) one back. Alex Levy and Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston were in the group at -9.
