Tyrone van Aswegen has missed just three cuts since the start of the 2015/16 PGA Tour season and his name is becoming a regular fixture on US leaderboards.
This week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational he’ll look to add a fourth top-20 result to his season record and improve on his current position of 53rd in the FedEx Cup.
The 34-year-old began the season with a share of third at the Frys.com Open and shared 20th at the Northern Trust Open three weeks ago.
His latest result was a missed cut at the Valspar Championship, but the Oklahoma University graduate has played the weekend in 10 of his 13 starts this season and is likely to shrug off last week’s setback.
His scoring average of 71.07 is pretty clean and he’s posted 27 rounds in the red this season. Shifting up a gear will be his focus for the week and his consistent form will help get him there.
Also teeing up this week is Retief Goosen, who returned to the limelight with a tied-11th result at the Valspar Championship last week.
The two-time US Open champion has missed one cut since the beginning of the season and is likely to come out firing at Bay Hill this week.
The tournament favourite is undoubtedly Henrik Stenson, who has top-10 results from three of his last four starts at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The world number seven shared 11th with Goosen last week, prior to which he was 28th at the WGC-Cadillac, Sixth at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, and third at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
The super Swede is the bookies favourite and highly likely to claim PGA Tour win number five.
