Brandon Stone finished as the top-performing South African after a final round 68 at the PGA Championship, writes WADE PRETORIUS.
Stone’s final round was matched Branden Grace and Dylan Frittelli with the trio all ended on a positive notice.
The recent Scottish Open champion climbed three places to finish just outside the top 10 in the group headlined by Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth sharing 12th. A slow start – he was two over through four – was overturned with birdies at the fifth, 11th before two in a row at 13 and 14.
Grace’s 68 saw him finish two back of Stone alongside Dustin Johnson, Patrick Cantlay and Kiwi Ryan Fox in T27.
One back of Grace’s tally was Dylan Frittelli earned himself some TV exposure with a number of good shots on Sunday but none better than his closing birdie, one of three in his final four holes.
Charl Schwartzel tumbled down the leaderboard with a closing 75.
After opening with a bogey, he failed to find any of the rhythm that he showed during the first 54 holes and completed his round without a birdie; a share of 42nd place was the result.
