Branden Grace will continue his search for his first Major title this week at Shinnecock Hills, sticking to the colours that are fast-becoming his trademark look.
Grace came closest to breaking into the Major winner’s circle back in 2015 after he got himself into the picture with rounds of 69, 67 and 70 to share the 54-hole lead.
The South African was looking likely to take Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson all the way but one bad swing – on the tee box on the 16th at Chambers Bay – cost him his chance as his ball travelled out of bounds en route to a double-bogey. That slip allowed Spieth to defeat Johnson by one shot and Grace by two.
Now the 30-year-old, who has been in solid form since winning the 2017 NGC, goes again and starts his bid in New York alongside England’s Paul Casey and Japan’s Satoshi Kodaira at 1:40pm off the 10th tee.
