South African golfer Branden Grace has made a massive donation to the Knysna Fire Relief and has called on those who can, to do the same.
Grace posted on Twitter about his donation, saying that he ‘hopes it will make a difference’.
‘Having grown up in the Buffalo Bay area, with my parents still living there and my brother in Knysna, the devastating fires in the area had a very personal impact on me,’ he wrote on Twitter.
‘It is a beautiful part of the country, where I started playing golf and still enjoy going to whenever I am back in the country. Luckily, my family had no damage to their properties and are all safe, but I know that many other families suffered huge loss and devastation.
‘It is going to be a long and hard road for many to get back on their feet and to reconstruct basic infrastructure.
‘I have donated R1.5-million to “Gift of the Givers Foundation” today and hope by posting this, that other South Africans who are able to will donate generously to the “Knysna Fire Relief 2017”.
‘I hope that this will inspire many who love Knysna to pledge and support so that we can get the town and its people back on their feet.’
Grace finished T50 at last week’s US Open, where he earned R377 842.
