Ernie Els shot a second consecutive 71 at the Golfclub München Eichenried as he looks set to feature on the weekend at the BMW International Open, writes WADE PRETORIUS.
The Big Easy’s shot at the weekend was solidified on Friday after his wonderful back nine bogey-free 32 on Thursday afternoon as he made a birdie at the second and another at the 8th to get to -3 for the tournament. That was ever so brief as he made bogey on the par 5 9th to turn in 35.
With the cut line hovering at -2, Els made birdie on the 11th, but once again dropped a shot on the next hole before closing with a string of pars as he looks set to feature this weekend.
Joining Els on -2 after 36 holes is Jaco Van Zyl, who followed Thursday’s 70 with a 72. His major gripe will be the double on the seventh, which compounded the bogey he made the hole before.
Nevertheless, Van Zyl has probably done enough – courtesy of a birdie on the final hole – to avoid joining the likes of Jbe Kruger, Zander Lombard and Dylan Frittelli on the -1 mark.
